The Dubai Police says it arrested Nigerian Instagram celebrity who goes by the moniker, Hushpuppi alongside 12 others for alleged internet fraud.
According to the National Newspaper of the UAE, security operatives in the emirate identified Hushpuppi’s real name as Raymond Abbas, 38.
Abbas and others were arrested in Dubai in a raid on June 10 on multiple fraud charges and they are still in custody. The identities of the other persons were not released in the report.
Classic reports that Hushpuppi, who has over 2 million followers on Instagram, is popular for flaunting his lavish lifestyle on the social media platform, showing off expensive cars, designer wears and wristwatches.
The 38-year-old according to the report has been referred to the Dubai public prosecution and is currently being questioned by prosecutors at the Bur Dubai section.
The prosecutors have charged him for “obtaining money from others through fraudulent means.”
Security officers in the emirate arrested Mr Abbas and 12 others for online fraud that targets companies and individuals.
