STOP PARADING YOURSELF AS LAGOS LP CHAIR, NLC WARNS SHOKUNBI
The attention of Labour Party has been drown to a misguiding notice in circulation purportedly from Nigeria Labour Congress, challenging the authenticity of Pastor Dayo Ekong led state caretaker executive committee of Labour Party Lagos.
The notice signed by one Adegoke Kehinde who claimed to be the State Secretary LP Caretaker Committee reads, “Our attention has been drawn to a secret call and text messages asking our members to attend a secret meeting somewhere around Ikeja by one Pastor Dayo Ekong. Please we call upon all members of Labour Party Lagos under the leadership of Hon Mrs. Oluwatoyin Shokunbi to disregard such call and meeting as we are not part of such arrangement”
“Lastly we encourage y’all to remain focus; Yes distractions will definitely come but don’t forget we are on a mission and that is to deliver all our structures to our principal Mr. Peter Obi come February 25th God willing Victory shall be ours” it concluded.
However, the NLC Lagos, has completely dissociated themselves from any involvement or misleading notice purported from the group called the Caretaker Committee overseen by Mrs. Oluwatoyin Shokunbi and posited that any meeting held in the Labour House with the leadership of the above named are unconstitutional and has nothing to do with Labour Party Lagos or Nigeria Labour Congress.
Responding to this effect, Comrade Igene P.J.A, Chairman Political Committee NLC Lagos and Deputy Chairman Labour Party Lagos, said, “the Nigeria Labour Congress hereby relinquish any prior and still existing ties with Mrs. Oluwatoyin Shokunbi, for which any actions this committee made and makes under the above named leadership with alliance claims to NLC are void, unethical, unconstitutional and unrecognized by NLC Lagos.
“Furthermore NLC Lagos is stating for the records that the only recognized ethical Chairman of the Labour Party in Lagos State is Pastor Dayo Ekong and NLC Lagos is in full support of Pastor Dayo Ekong led Exco”, he said.
Recall that the National Legal Adviser of Labour Party, Mr. Akingbade Oyelekan had on Wednesday January 18th, 2023 inaugurated the Pastor Dayo Ekong led 25 man exco in Lagos State Labour Party office following the expiration of the tenure of Comrade Koyode Ezekiel Salako.
Speaking during the inauguration, Oyelekan said “the newly inaugurated Exco led by Pastor Dayo Ekong is gender sensitive, all inclusive and duly approved by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party led by Mr. Julius Abure.
He further said that Pastor Dayo Ekong led Exco is the authentic executives of the party in Lagos State, while calling on members of the public to disregard any other form of faction(s), which of course doesn’t exist anymore in the party as all organs of the party in the state have been dully carried along in the newly constituted exco.
Labour Party Lagos State hereby clarifies for the records that Mrs. Oluwatoyin Shokunbi is a member of the harmonized new exco as Deputy Woman Leader and her no reasons to have formed another caretaker executive committee of same political party.
