ABBA KYARI: GARLANDS FOR A SWASHBUCKLING COP

The Nigeria Police Force has had to trudge through in the recent past having to counter all sorts of appellation engendered by the actions and inactions of the bad eggs in the force.
But the glowing exploits and uncommon sense of dedication to securing Nigeria as exemplified by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari could begin to change the narrative that the force is unfriendly, unprofessional, corrupt and peopled by tired men.
DCP Abba Kyari, the Commander, Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team is a rare phenomenon who has distinguished himself over the years for his numerous successes. The wave making cop has evinced an un-flurried disposition in the discharge of his duties.
A Kanuri by tribe, Kyari was born on March 17, 1975 into the family of Alhaji Baba Kyari in Maiduguri, present day Borno State. He attended primary and secondary schools at the University of Maiduguri Staff Primary School and Government College, Maiduguri.
He gained admission into the University of Maiduguri in 1993 and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Geography in 1997. He embarked on the mandatory Youth Service and was attached to the 6th Motorized Infantry Battalion of the Nigerian Army at Igbawa, Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 2000 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Despite joining the force in just 20 years, his successes have soared to unimagined heights. Today, he is indisputably regarded as Nigeria’s most accomplished detective. A chronicle of his crime bursting exploits is not only intimidating but also draws huge local and international reverence for the young officer.
Chukwudumeme Onwaumadike aka Evans was a pain in the neck of many Nigerians. The billionaire kidnap kingpin released his ferocity on scores of unsuspecting Nigerians until Kyari rose to the occasion to stop him. Evans was eventually arrested by Kyari and his team.
The indefatigable cop captured the most deadly kidnapper in the history of Nigeria, Henry Chibueze aka “Vampire” in Owerri, Imo State and his gang members.
The killers of the late Chief of Defense Staff, Alex Badeh were also picked up by the celebrated cop.
Nigerians woke up to hear that dare-devil robbers had invaded Offa town in Kwara State by robbing five commercial banks and murdered 31 innocent persons in the process. Kyari was called upon and he ensured that the robbers were arrested.
He arrested the kidnappers who kidnapped two Americans and two Canadians in Kaduna State. He effected the arrest of a notorious gang who had planned to kidnap billionaire Femi Otedola in Lagos State.
The list seems endless with over sixty other high profile cases in his crime bursting portfolio.
The cop has received a legion of accolades and awards for meritorious service, including, Classic International Magazine’s Classic Africa Merit Award, 2019, as Africa’s Most Intelligent Police Detective of the year 2019.
He received the Lagos State Governor’s Award for Gallantry in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Security Watch Africa bestowed on him, The Best Anti-Crime Police Officer in West Africa. Others are the Star Award from CRAN 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017, The Best Police Officer of the Decade Award.
Kyari was also honoured by the Silver Bird Group with the 2018 Hero of the year Award.
His service to the nation was noticed by the Presidency when he was awarded the Presidential Medal for Courage by President Buhari.
Recently, the celebrated officer was invited by the Federal House of Representatives and honoured for his Selfless sacrifice in combating crime across the country.
With age on his side coupled with the requisite empowerment from the government, Kyari is poised to score more points in his anti-crime drive.
