IFELODUN: COMMISSIONER REITERATES FREE EDUCATION IN LAGOS STATE

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Lagos State,Hon. Jamiu Alli- Balogun, Special guest of Honor during the distribution of school materials and launching of *OKEMONEY* program by the Executive Chairman, Ifelodun Local Council Development Area,Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo on Monday,2nd October, 2023 at the Council premises reiterated rejuvenated transformation drive of the Governor of Lagos State,His Excellency, Mr Babajide Olushola Sanwo Olu.
In his address,he stressed the importance of Basic Education to all communities as the foundation upon which other layers of Education is built. He corrected misconceived criticisms that the state is collecting fees from pupils and students. He, therefore, reemphasized that education is free from JSS 1 to SS3.
He assuredly asserted that our amiable Governor has reinvigorated new dimension in Education sector through various programs being put in place to return drop out children back to schools. This is done to curtail spread of miscreants or children roaming the streets during school hours. He charged parents to feel free to approach him to acost them to schools where there are fees levied on pupils and students.
He, however, enjoined parents and guardians to always performance their Civic responsibilities by paying their taxes.
This is because the monumental infrastructural development going on in the state can only be materialised as conceived when everyone plays his or her roles by not evading taxes
Hon. Alli Balogun appreciated the Education Secretary,Barr. Biola William for the outstanding performances of the pupils and also the dedicated teachers involved in showcasing the hidden inherent talents of our children. In the same vein implored all stakeholders of Education to collectively nurture the talents of these children to their fullest.
The Commissioner appealed to the Executive Chairman to also motivate these teachers while he takes good care of the children so as to get the best from our children.
In attendance were Hon. Lukman Sa’ad Olumo, member representing AJEROMI- Ifelodun Constituency 1, Lagos State House of Assembly; Councillors; Executive Members;G10 Members;CAC Members; pupils from various schools; artisans; market men and women among others.
