President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially inaugurated the newly completed headquarters of the Nigeria Revenue Service in Abuja, marking a significant milestone in the federal government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen revenue generation and institutional efficiency.
The commissioning ceremony, held amidst great fanfare, attracted top government officials, lawmakers, and stakeholders in the nation’s economic and financial sectors. Among the dignitaries present was the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, alongside ministers, heads of agencies, and members of the National Assembly.
In his keynote address, President Tinubu described the new headquarters as a symbol of his administration’s commitment to fiscal discipline, transparency, and economic growth. He emphasized the critical role of efficient revenue collection in funding infrastructure, social services, and national development.
“This edifice is more than just a building; it is a testament to our resolve to reposition our revenue institutions for optimal performance. A stronger revenue system is the backbone of a prosperous nation,” the President stated.
Tinubu further charged the leadership and staff of the Nigeria Revenue Service to uphold professionalism, integrity, and innovation in the discharge of their duties, noting that improved revenue mobilization remains central to his administration’s economic agenda.
Speaking at the event, Senate President Akpabio commended the President for prioritizing reforms in the nation’s revenue system. He assured of the National Assembly’s continued support in enacting laws and providing oversight to ensure accountability and effectiveness in revenue administration.
The Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Dr. Zach Adedeji also expressed gratitude to the federal government for the new facility, noting that it would enhance operational efficiency, staff productivity, and service delivery.
The state-of-the-art headquarters is equipped with modern technology and infrastructure designed to support digital tax administration, data management, and inter-agency collaboration.
